Dear Katoomba Airfield Supporter,
Thank you for signing up to the Save Katoomba Airfield Petition, over 800 people have supported this petition and we expect this number to grow over the coming days.
As you are aware, the Katoomba Airfield is at serious risk of closure after FlyBlue’s Aerodrome Licence was cancelled by the NSW State Government late Friday 28 February 2020.
FlyBlue’s new licence will only allow for access and investigative purposes, effectively prohibiting all aviation activity.
The Government’s decision follows an unfair and flawed Community Consultation process which was not representative of the local and wider community, and was hijacked by the opponents to the airfield who conducted a fear and misinformation campaign around helicopter ‘joy flights’. FlyBlue’s business model specifically excluded helicopter ‘joy flights’. See https://flyblue.com.au/
Since 1968 the airfield has played a vital role in our community, especially in times of emergencies and in supporting local jobs and tourism – we cannot let it close!
To stop this we need your help to convince the NSW Government to reverse this decision, given the Community Consultation process was flawed.
We need you to:
- Like and share our FB page , encouraging others to sign our petition.
- Email or call Alan Jones at alanjones@2gb.com or 131 873 and make the issue known to the wider public.
- Email the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Rob Stokes at: Pittwater@parliament.nsw.gov.au and urge him to reverse the decision.
Thank you for your support,
